Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Bowling Acres Bar & Grill is TEMPORARILY CLOSED.

We hope to OPEN SOON.

Open Letter to the Monadnock Region:

We hope you are doing well in these trying times, we miss you all and can’t wait until we are allowed to reopen.

We’ve seen a lot in our time as owners, everything from recessions to ice storms however our business has never been affected like this. On March 17th after we were told we had to close the dining room and bar, we made the decision to temporarily close the lanes & arcade as well and ride out the storm. As the order stretched out days, weeks and finally months we have had to make several very difficult decisions.

When the first stay-at-home orders came two weeks later, we knew we made the right decision in temporarily closing. As the weeks stretched on, we tried to determine if we could make money doing takeout only. Unfortunately, due to our food cost being well over industry standards we saw that even if we were doing orders at the rate we were pre-Covid we would still be losing even more money than if we were open.

As we now enter Stay-at-Home 2.0, we were informed we could have customers eat outside. We have thought long and hard about the financial viability of this model, and the simple fact is we only have enough money to open up once more. Due to the lanes, arcade and bar being shut down 67% of our business model cannot open to the public and we just can’t afford to take on the additional costs (product, staffing, general overhead) and risk bankruptcy. We are going to try some creative solutions such as pig roasts or clam bakes so we have some money to last us until we are allowed to reopen.

It has been a hard couple months for us all. Everything is different, but we will be back.  We miss seeing you all very much and are wishing you the absolute best.

Love,

Tony, Shannon & AJ
